Mindaka Mahela is a well – known wildlife photographer in Sri Lanka, with over 11 years of experience since beginning his journey in 2014. Mindaka has photographed widely across Sri Lanka’s major national parks including Wilpattu, Yala, Kumana, Horton Plains and many others. He is highly skilled in identifying leopards and birds, and is especially known for his expertise in leopard tracking. Most importantly , he has photographed over 140 individual leopards in Sri Lanka, as a reflection of his dedication and talent. His talent and passion have made him a respectable figure in the field. Mindaka has shared his knowledge through various workshops and lectures on wildlife photography.

Mindaka Mahela is an award winning photographer who has earned honors in numerous photography competitions since the beginning of his journey. He has been a regular finalist in renowned contests such as The National Photography Awards and The Wildlife Sri Lanka Photographer Of The Year, held annually. In 2019, he got the 1st place in The World Environment Day Photography Competition. He has also received many merit awards from other contests. His  photographs have been featured in multiple exhibitions across the country, showcasing his talent and passion for wildlife. Due to his skill in leopard identification, he is a valued member of The Leopard Diary of Sri Lanka.
